Do you enjoy taken long rides with no destination in mind?
I do.
Warm summer days seem to call my name. Windows down, radio on, and the world behind me. (Yes, I'm beyond ready for warm weather!)
Not knowing where I'm going, just going. All the stops, turns and detours just add to the adventure. Add to the fun. Add to the excitement.
Those days are few and far in between now, but they are still very much needed and enjoyed.
What about you? Do you enjoy rides like that?
Think about this for a moment.
The road we're called to walk isn't promised to be a short flat one, just as the roads we drive upon aren't. What kind of road would that be? There'd be no mountains, hills, rivers to cross. It would be a little boring.
There's no lesson learned in a "smooth ride".
So, more often than not our lives, like the roads, are filled with curves, hills, bumps, and maybe even some gravel somewhere along the way.
How do we handle our curved, bumpy, graveled road? How do we have peace and clarity when we can't even see where our road leads to?
It's simple really. So simple some find it hard to do. Are you ready for the answer?
Trust in Jesus.
He knows our paths. He knows all our detours. He knows where our final destination is (and no it's not in our driveway at the end of the wonderful drive - it's in Heaven with Him!)
So while we're here, while we navigate and follow the Lord's leading, why not enjoy the wind blowing in our hair? Why not take the time to LIVE, not just exist. Why not love? Why not be thankful that someone, way better than ourselves has control of the wheel? Why not rest, trust and believe the Lord will guide us where He wants us?
Why not enjoy the "ride"?
All of it. The ups, downs, ins and outs. The happiness and the sorrow. ALL of it.
Why?
Because in the end, it will all be worth it. In the end, we'll have our answers. In the end - we'll be with Him forever more.
